Gainsborough Lodge has a nice calm, welcoming atmosphere. Check-in was excellent. Our room was an accessible room on the ground floor so lovely not to have to drag cases upstairs. The room felt a bit spartan to allow for a wheelchair but an extra chair would have been nice. Lovely walk in shower but the water was scalding hot and the control very hard to turn not that it made any difference. I landed up having to have a strip wash which was a challenge as there was no plug for the sink. This was an updated room so poor design on shower control especially for an accessible room. Quiet, easy walk to the high street for meals and last minute shopping.

The Gainsborough Lodge is conveniently located just a 25-minute walk from Gatwick Airport. I’ve walked to there from both the north and south terminals, and I recommend using Apple Maps instead of Google Maps for navigation. Follow the route from the south terminal (even if you're exiting the north terminal) and select the route that goes through the Riverside Garden Park to the Gainsborough Lodge. This route is much more pleasant than the one Google Maps suggests. The hotel itself is modernized, clean, and spacious, making it a great choice for solo travelers. The last time I stayed, I had a room with a nice view of their green backyard. The rooms also have USB-A power outlets, so you don’t need to worry about bringing a UK power adapter if you’re only charging your phone. Their wi-fi is both robust and speedy. I opted for breakfast, which was payable at the time of check-in. It’s not fancy, but it’s a fair and convenient deal at £5. I had an apple, four pieces of toast with cheese and ham, cereal, and milk. Of course, there’s coffee and juice too. In addition to being close to the airport, the Gainsborough Lodge is even closer to the center of Horley, which is just a 5-minute walk away. There are restaurants and a Lidl there. I even managed to go for a run (about 10 km) starting from the hotel, although there wasn’t an obvious good route without a lot of street crossings.

Stayed here in between international flights and were able to leave our bags when we got there too early. We were still able to get in our room for early check in too. Host at reception was lovely and had no issues at all with check in or in general during our stay. Everything was super clean and the bed was really comfortable! We paid 143.03 AUD for one night which we felt was good value for money for 2 people. Close to town and shops too so we got lunch and dinner from town.

The owner (Mr Patel) was helpful and polite when my friend and I checked in for the night, We were going to Gatwick airport at 3:30, so this is only a short taxi ride away. The hotel is only about 10 min walk from the train station and it's also very close to a great Wetherspoons pub, plus Waitrose and lots of shops. My room was just a single, with a single bed, basin, cupboard. The communal bathroom/shower was just around the corner from my room and it was clean/decent. All in all I'd stay there again.

Breakfast wasn’t available! Room and bathroom were adequate, bed was comfy. Check in was easy and staff friendly. Had to ask for towels. Location was good for the airport.

I was very satisfied with the hotel. It was good value for money. The rooms were clean and tidy with a comfortable bed. My room came with a shared bathroom which was clean and newly renovated. The staff were very helpful and the afterhours access procedure was communicated very clearly. The hotel was easily reachable by public transport from Gatwick Airport. (Bus 100), with a bus stop only a few meters down the road

From the moment I arrived I was very impressed with this hotel. Very convenient location for the train station, friendly and welcoming reception from the staff. I'd booked the single bedroom but when I was shown my room it actually has a very comfortable double bed in it. Small but perfectly formed shower room, the room has all the facilities you could need. Having stayed in a few hotels along this road when travelling I can definitely say this one is by far the most comfortable.

awesome,will STAY again Liked · this is hotel is great.Its out 7th time of staying. We stayed 3x nights even though Only booked twice on,booking.com.Its very clean and Staff are friendly and Professional. EVERY time !!! The room was on, ground floor as requested. Large walk in shower. comfortable beds ,Room smelt very clean.The hotel is walking ditance from local train station.Also numerous pubs and cafes. W euse local cafe near train station, for breakfast. Disliked · NOTHING to moan bout.

The front desk staff were extremely helpful! he provided info on how to get to the train station and the times it ran. he also helped with bus schedules for our early departure the next day. The room was tidy and comfortable. They provided instant coffee as well which was nice. We were hoping the bar would be open at the end of the night but it seemed to be closed, this wasn't an issue however. The location is perfect for walking to a local pub or restaurant of your choosing. Thank you for our stay!!

Room was very comfortable, carpet freshly vacuumed and very clean. Felt comfortable with baby crawling on floor. Seems to be newly renovated. Staff accommodated requests relatively quickly and was able to place us far away from smokey construction area of building to allow baby to sleep.
